Would you like to help support the UCLA Sailing Team?

The Sailing Team at UCLA is a completely self-run organization. Unfortunately, the team is not yet a Varsity sport. Instead, we are a registered Club sport, which basically means that we do not get nearly enough support from our school.

You have probably heard of the recent budget cuts in public schools. UCLA has been hit especially hard-- we no longer receive over $53 million of governmental dollars that we previously had. Undergraduate student fees have been raised by 14% this year. There is simply no money to go around. With new boats costing upwards of $5,000, and regattas every few weeks totaling over 7,000 driving miles annually, our $800 budget from UCLA doesn't go very far.

Varsity Teams at schools such as Stanford and USC are granted budgets of a quarter million dollars. While it is exciting to compete with schools such as these, it is also nearly impossible to keep up with them on our limited resources.
